The Last of the Circus Elephants

“I am driving in what appears to be an under developed country. I see a boy being led around on an elephant. He has a manacle on his arm, I believe he is a slave. I do not know where I am and trying to find where I am going. None of the streets are marked. I feel like I am going the wrong way but hesitant to turn around. I see another boy and elephant being lead around, this time I notice the man who is leading him wears a religious hat, sort of cross between a kufi and a fez.

The streets had seemed to be dirt roads, but I can now tell it is running rivers filled with elephant dung. As I drive I see circus tents collapsed on the ground and realize this is  not where I want to be. It is where they train the circus animals.  Continuing my ‘tour’ I see a number of dead baby elephants but they are almost indistinguishable lumps in muck of the same colour.  I start looking for a place to turn around and instead I hit reverse through a roughly hewn intersection.

Most countries in the world ban the use of elephants in the circus now. There is more understanding of the cruelty that took place in their training, restraints and isolation. Between 1995 and 2004 there were 31 premature deaths of elephants in captivity.

In my dream elephants are a type for the prophetic. Large ears, great hearing, great memory, tough skin and ability to make a trumpet noise audible for six miles! I believe my dream was saying that like the elephants, many a prophet has died coming under the control of man. The Lord is saying that the religious spirit, a demonic spirit, not people, would like to control the prophetic. It guises itself as something that would be helpful to man. The young boy on the elephant represents the man who thinks he is riding the prophetic when is actually being led around , “manacled and enslaved by a religious spirit.

The religious spirit is something that we have minimized and simply tolerated as something men do, they erect rules, that is just the way it is. But this is a demonic empowerment to squelch the  gifts of the spirit and to use the prophetic in ways the Lord did not intend. Just like the dead elephants in my dream our prophets are dying, undiscerned among the dung.

Intercession for the body of Christ and freedom from the religious spirit has been on me since I had the dream, Oh, that we would understand hat we could tame the Spirit of God and use Him for our purposes, keeping ourselves enslaved to religion instead of walking in the freedom Jesus intended.

Galatians 3 You foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified? 2 This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? 4 Did you suffer so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain? 5 So then, does He who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by the works of ]the Law, or by hearing with faith?

There are not so many miracles being performed among us these days, at least not in Canada. We have trained them right out of the church, out of the country even. We have been bewitched and enslaved by this religious spirit for so long we cannot even discern its presence anymore. We think we are being led by the spirit, we are prophetic, but we are being led around on a trained animal. We have said goodbye to circus elephants can we say goodbye to the circus in the church created by a religious spirit?

Who can tame the Spirit of God?

Revival is not a controlled thing. We pray for revival but are we ready for it?

I think we must first repent of trying to manipulate and control God, and attempting to train the “animal” of the move of the Spirit. Lets get out of circus town!

God we invite you to visit us in all your glory.
